La Catedral de València

La Catedral de València

The Valencia Cathedral was constructed on the site of a former Roman temple, later transformed into a mosque, before finally becoming a Catholic Cathedral in the 13th century. Over the centuries, the Cathedral has undergone numerous renovations, resulting in a fascinating blend of architectural styles in both its exterior and interior.

The Cathedral's façade is adorned with intricate details, captivating the eyes of its beholders. The doorways alone are a testament to the Gothic and Baroque architectural styles; take the time to observe and decide which style you prefer. Inside the Cathedral, a majestic and divine atmosphere prevails. The stunning Gothic rose window floods the space with light, adding grandeur to its overall appearance. The chapels, richly decorated with artistic masterpieces, include several works by Francisco Goya.

The Cathedral's standout feature is the Holy Grail Chapel. The chapel's vault is embellished with a stunning star, creating an otherworldly ambiance. Here, you can observe what is believed by some (though not all) to be the Holy Chalice, thought to date back to the first century AD and purportedly used by Jesus Christ during the Last Supper.

If you're not entirely awe-struck yet, don't miss the opportunity to ascend the Cathedral's tower, known as El Miguelete. Those brave enough to tackle the 207-step climb are rewarded with a breathtaking panorama of Valencia
