Nestled amidst a lush landscape, Mon Repos stands as a resplendent neoclassical palace, constructed in 1826 as a gift from British High Commissioner Frederic Adams to his cherished wife, Nina Palatianou. This exquisite architectural marvel would soon witness a shift in history when, in 1864, Corfu reunited with Greece and the palace transformed into the summer abode of the Greek royal family. It is within these majestic walls that Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh and consort to Queen Elizabeth II, was born in 1921.
In contemporary times, Mon Repos has gracefully evolved into the Palaiopolis-Mon Repos Museum. Within its elegant halls, visitors are privy to a meticulously curated exhibition chronicling the palace's storied past. Beyond this narrative, the museum also boasts a captivating collection of antiquities that eloquently speak to the rich, early history of Corfu.
