Village of Lindos is home to one of the most awe-inspiring archaeological wonders in not just Greece, but the entire world - the majestic Lindos Acropolis. This captivating site showcases the convergence of diverse civilizations, including Ancient Greek, Roman, and Byzantine, seamlessly interwoven with the medieval legacy of the Knights of the Order of Saint John. Immerse yourself in the alluring charm of Lindos' renowned sandy beaches and savor the delectable flavors of traditional Greek cuisine. Experience the delight of donkey rides, capture unforgettable moments in photographs, and wander through the picturesque medieval streets. Engage in fascinating conversations with friendly locals and indulge in a unique shopping experience, all within the spellbinding ambience of Lindos.
Mandraki Harbour, once the military port of Rhodes, has been in use since ancient times. It was originally protected from attack by massive chains stretched across its narrow entrance and later by the imposing Fort of St. Nicholas, built in 1467, which still stands guard over the marina today. Throughout the centuries, the harbor thrived as a prosperous trading hub, but now its role is entirely peaceful. Luxury super-yachts mingle with traditional fishing boats and tour vessels, which in summer set off daily for nearby islands like Symi and Nisyros, as well as for local beaches and diving excursions.
We did the day trip in September. The weather was great and Lindos is a cute little town, framed by the sea and worth a visit. The tour was well organized and our guide could give great insights. All expectations where at least met. :-)
