Butterfly Valley

The Valley attracts thousands of Jersey Tiger Moths. They come from May to September drawn by the scent of the Oriental Sweetgum trees. When butterflies come they cover the entire valley which produces a magical impression. While asleep they are well-camouflaged in black and yellow but when butterflies fly their wings flash with cherry-red.
Rhodes is very proud to have the unique nature reserve known as “Butterfly Valley” or in Greek “Petaloudes Valley”. When you come here be ready for a miracle! Located on the western part of the island only 25 km from the town of Rhodes.
The Valley itself is very beautiful. You can afford here the luxury of complete relaxation. Lose yourself between small murmuring waterfalls, the sparkling ponds and cute bridges. Enjoy the moment in this natural paradise unspoiled by loud civilization.
This place is perfect for the families with children. The young one will not only stroll around admiring the rich flora but also discover peculiarities of the butterflies’ life cycle.
